Pedro dijo: «Esfuércense por añadir a su fe, virtud; a su virtud, entendimiento; al entendimiento, dominio propio; al dominio propio, constancia; a la constancia, devoción a Dios; a la devoción a Dios, afecto fraternal; y al afecto fraternal, amor». No te desanimes ni te rindas cuando tropieces. Requiere una vida entera forjar un carácter como el de Cristo. Pablo le dijo a Timoteo: «Mantente enfocado en tu carácter y enseñanza. No te distraigas. Sigue perseverando».
¿Cuál será la contribución de mi vida? Esta pregunta se refiere al servicio. ¿Cuál será tu ministerio en el cuerpo de Cristo? Conociendo tu FORMA: Formación espiritual, Oportunidades, Recursos, Mi personalidad, y Antecedentes, ¿cuál será tu mejor papel en la familia de Dios? ¿Cómo puedes hacer la diferencia? ¿Hay un grupo específico del cuerpo al cual he sido llamado a servir? Pablo señaló dos beneficios maravillosos cuando cumples con tu ministerio: «Esta ayuda, que es un servicio sagrado, no sólo suple las necesidades de los santos, sino que también redunda en abundantes acciones de gracias a Dios».
Aunque fuiste formado para servir a otros, considera que ni Jesús satisfizo las necesidades de todo el mundo mientras estuvo en la tierra. Tienes que escoger a quiénes puedes ayudar mejor basado en tu forma. Necesitas preguntarte: «¿A quién deseo ayudar más?». Jesús dijo: «Los comisioné para que vayan y den fruto, un fruto que perdure». Cada uno de nosotros da frutos diferentes.
¿Cuál será la comunicación de mi vida? Esto se refiere a tu misión a los no creyentes. Tu declaración de misión es parte de la declaración de propósito de tu vida. Esto debería incluir tu compromiso de compartir tu testimonio y las Buenas Nuevas con otros. También debes hacer una lista con las lecciones de la vida y las pasiones divinas que sientes que Dios te ha dado para compartir con el mundo. Mientras vas creciendo en Cristo, Dios puede darte un grupo especial de personas para que te enfoques en alcanzarlas. Asegúrate de añadir esto a tu declaración.
Si eres padre, parte de tu misión es criar a tus hijos en el conocimiento de Cristo, a fin de ayudarlos a entender los propósitos de él para sus vidas y enviarlos a su misión en el mundo. Puedes incluir la declaración de Josué en la tuya: «Yo y mi casa serviremos al Señor».
Por supuesto, nuestras vidas deben dar testimonio y confirmar el mensaje que comunicamos. Antes que la mayoría de los no creyentes acepten la Biblia como creíble, quieren saber cuán creíbles somos nosotros. Por eso es que la Palabra de Dios afirma: «Asegúrate de vivir de una manera que traiga honor a las buenas nuevas de Cristo».
Reflexión:
Tendrás papeles distintos en diferentes etapas de tu vida, pero tus propósitos nunca cambiarán.
DAY 40/Third part • Living with Purpose
An intelligent person aims at wise action, but a fool starts off in many directions. PROVERBS 17:24 (TEV)
Peter said, “Don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love.” Don’t get discouraged and give up when you stumble. It takes a lifetime to build Christlike character. Paul told Timothy, “Keep a firm grasp on both your character and your teaching. Don’t be diverted. Just keep at it.”
What will be the contribution of my life? This is the question of service. What will be your ministry in the Body of Christ? Knowing your combination of spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences (SHAPE), what would be your best role in the family of God? How can you make a difference? Is there a specific group in the Body that I am shaped to serve? Paul pointed out two wonderful benefits when you fulfill your ministry: “This service you perform not only meets the needs of God’s people, but also produces an outpouring of gratitude to God.”
While you are shaped to serve others, even Jesus didn’t meet the needs of everyone while on earth. You have to choose whom you can best help, based on your shape. You need to ask, “Who do I have a desire to help most?” Jesus said, “I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit, fruit that will last.” Each of us bears different fruit.
What will be the communication of my life? This is the question of your mission to unbelievers. Your mission statement is a part of your life purpose statement. It should include your commitment to share your testimony and the Good News with others. You should also list the life lessons and godly passions you feel God has given you to share with the world. As you grow in Christ, God may give you a special target group of people to focus on reaching. Be sure to add this to your statement.
If you are a parent, part of your mission is to raise your children to know Christ, to help them understand his purposes for their lives, and to send them out on their mission in the world. You might include Joshua’s statement in yours: “As for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.”
Of course, our lives must support and validate the message we communicate. Before most unbelievers accept the Bible as credible they want to know that we are credible. That is why the Bible says, “Be sure that you live in a way that brings honor to the Good News of Christ.”

You will have different roles at different stages in life, but your purposes will never change.
