Andad en amor, como también Cristo nos amó, y se entregó a sí mismo por nosotros.
EFESIOS 5:2
Todos los días Dios puede traer a nuestra vida personas que podrían ser problemáticas e irritantes. No obstante, lo hace como un recordatorio: «Amo a quienes resulta difícil cuidar. Amo incluso a quienes parecen insoportables».
En esto podríamos sentir una convicción incómoda. Después de todo, sabemos las maneras en que nos sentimos desagradables e indignos. Tenemos defectos, fallas y peculiaridades que molestan o indignan a otros. De hecho, podríamos parecernos más a aquellos que nos disgustan de lo que nos gustaría admitir. Pero, aun así, Jesús nos ama y murió por nosotros, tal como murió por ellos. Lo que Cristo hizo por nosotros en la cruz, lo hizo por el peor enemigo que hemos tenido. Es cuando humildemente aceptamos este hecho que podemos comenzar a amar a los demás como Jesús ama.
Por eso, cuando se tope con alguien que le fastidie, pídale a Jesús que le provea su amor por esa persona. Recuerde la gracia que Él le ha dado y agradézcale por estar dispuesto a manifestar el fruto de su Espíritu a través de usted (Gálatas 5:22–23). Luego observe lo que Jesús hace por medio de su corazón dispuesto a amar. Muy bien podría ver el poder de Dios obrando por medio del cambio de comportamiento que experimenta.
Oración:
Jesús, ayúdame a ver con tus ojos a quienes me disgustan y a dejar que tu amor fluya a través de mí. Amén.
A BASIS FOR LOVE
Walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us. EPHESIANS 5:2
On a daily basis, God may bring people across your path who you may find to be troublesome and irritating. However, He does so as a reminder to you: “I love those who are difficult to care for. I love even when others seem unlovable.”
In this, you may feel some uncomfortable conviction. After all, you know the ways you feel unlovable and unworthy. You have flaws, failures, and quirks that annoy or anger others. In fact, you may be more like those whom you dislike than you’d care to admit. But Jesus still loves you and died for you—just as He did for them. What Christ did for you on the cross, He did for your worst enemy. It’s when you humbly accept this fact that you can begin to love others as Jesus does.
So when you encounter someone who antagonizes you, ask Jesus to give you His love for him or her. Remember the grace He’s given you, and thank Him that He’s willing to manifest the fruit of His Spirit through you (Galatians 5:22–23). Then watch what He does through your willing heart. You may very well see the power of God work through your change in demeanor.
Prayer:
Jesus, help me see those I dislike with Your eyes, and let Your love flow through me. Amen.
